A Sick obese cat has been rescued from a cruel owner who weighs as much as a 5-year-old – and rescuers say the cat is “the biggest anyone has ever seen”.
Patches top the scale at 40.3 lbs, just 5 pounds less than the heaviest cat on record in the world.
It is thought that the cat gained weight after being overfed with junk food and unhealthy food in Virginia, USA.
But he was taken in by a local animal shelter, where rescuers put him on a strict low-calorie diet. Diet.
And after sharing a flick off about their social media patches, he has now found a new home after his photos went viral.
The Shelter He Lives Posted: “Have you woken up yet Today and said, ‘adopt the biggest cat anyone’s ever seen?’ If so, we have the cat for you.

“Meet Patches; all his 40.3 POUNDS! He’s been adjusted to a very special diet, is on an exercise plan and is very sweet. He’s castrated, tested. checked, chipped and ready to hit the field today!
“Until then, we will Marvel at his gluttonous glory body.”
The chubby cat is seen in a few other moments on the way to his new home – with two people helping to carry the chubby cat in its crate.
The “sweet” baby boy has bright blue eyes and is sure to be loved in his new home – as shown by fans’ adorable comments about the shelter Facebook parcel.
One woman said: “The patches look like he’s going to set a record for a common domesticated cat!”
Patches is only 6 pounds less than the fattest cat in the world ever recorded – Himmy, a cat from Australia who weighed 46.8 lbs in 1986.
Another cat owner begged everyone to stop feeding the moggie after Iris swelled to twice its normal size.
The Blue short hair is on a strict low-fat, calorie-controlled diet to try to lose weight weight from 16.5lb.
But desperate owner Sheena Wilson says she has to get more food from elsewhere.
Sheena said: “Iris is huge. During the last lockdown, I realized that someone was feeding her because she barely ate her food and still gained weight.
“The baby is growing up. Her diet is not very good. She denied dieting for a while and continued begging.
“It is becoming a problem when only her head fits in the lap of a cat. So she can only use it to play peek-a-boo and can’t put the rest of her in it.
“Iris has now resorted to knocking to come and go.”

In a note to neighbor of Exmouth, Devon, Sheena writes: “If you see this beloved furry friend pretending to be abandoned and have an empty stomach, stop feeding him.
“As you can see, she really doesn’t care but we want her to be with us for as long as possible.”
