A 17-year-old boy was shot dead by a car at a Canoga Park gas station early Wednesday morning after a fight in the parking lot, authorities said.
Officer Warren Moore of the Los Angeles Police Department said the boy was standing in a gas station parking lot with a group of people shortly before 1 a.m. when the suspect approached them and argued.
The suspect then got into a fight with the group and fired several times at them. According to police, the teenage boy was beaten.
Mr. Moore said the suspect fled and the teen was hit by a car running from a gas station on Vanowen Road and Independence Avenue. Police could not say whether the vehicle was driven by the shooter.
Police said the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities have no description of the suspect.
