The nominations for the 95th Annual Academy Awards were announced Tuesday morning, and it looks like a multiverse-set comedy-drama is the favorite to take the big win. at the ceremony in March.
“Everything Everywhere All at Once” dominated the nominations for the main categories, appearing in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay. It earned 11 nominations overall, leading the group.
“The Banshees of Inisherin” and “All Quiet on the Western Front” each have nine nominations, and Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” (seven nominations) are also among the top performers. “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Avatar: The Way of Water,” the biggest blockbusters to be released in 2022, were also nominated for best picture.
This year’s group of 10 Best Picture nominees was the highest-grossing group at the time of nomination, totaling $1.574 billion at the domestic box office, according to Comscore. The previous 2009 nominations held the record at $1.52 billion at the time they were nominated.
