I feel that Shohei Ohtani’s upcoming free agency deserves special treatment at MLBTR. Ohtani is always doing the unprecedented, and he’s on his way to becoming a freelance agent in about seven months. We will certainly cover this topic from many angles at MLBTR, but I also plan to have more articles on Ohtani that deal with topics not usually covered at MLBTR. These will be located at Ohtani .’s player pageso that those who are looking for enhanced coverage of the man outside the hot furnace news can get.
For example, the Ohtani player page might include articles about his endorsement, regular updates from his in-game performances, and coverage of Cy Young’s MVP and/or opportunities.
MLBTR’s writing team will continue to cover all aspects of Ohtani’s free agency on MLBTR, but we’re looking to add a paid writer to cover those additional topics. These are the qualities:
- You must be fluent in both English and Japanese. - While you may be a fan of Ohtani, you will need to write about him objectively.
- A high school diploma is required, and further education is preferred. Please include your highest completed education in your application.
- Writing experience is required, and online writing experience is preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow MLBTR’s style and tone.
- Ohtani’s solid knowledge of history, even before he came to the United States.
- Ability to create smart, well-written articles that analyze and contextualize Ohtani news quickly and accurately.
- Ability to use Twitter, Tweetdeck, Facebook and WordPress. Experience with these is strongly preferred.
- The ability to incorporate feedback to improve performance.
