A dog was shot dead by Los Angeles Police Department officers after it bit a person Tuesday morning at a homeless shelter in Los Angeles. Neighborhood Vermont-Slauson of South Los Angeles, police said.
Officers responded to a radio call about a person being bitten by a dog near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and West 70th Street at 10:24 a.m., according to the LAPD. An LAPD spokesman said police shot the dog and it was pronounced dead at the scene.
Footage from KABC-TV Channel 7 shows white cardboard covering a dog that appears to be chained to a post.
Police did not say whether other injuries were reported, nor did they provide details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
