Costner and Baumgartner married in 2003 and welcomed their first child Cayden four years later. News of their divorce came after Costner’s hit show, “gold stone” was announced to end after the fifth season.

Christine Baumgartner files for divorce from Kevin Costner
On Monday, Christine Baumgartner officially filed for divorce from Kevin Costner. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Baumgartner cites that they have “irreconcilable differences.” The estranged couple have been together for about 18 years.
In her documents, Baumgartner, 49, asked the court to grant joint custody of her three children with Costner. They have 15-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes and 12-year-old Grace in their marriage. However, the designer did not ask for her spouse’s support because she and Costner had a previous marriage.
A representative for Costner spoke to TMZ about divorce records. They said: “Sadly, circumstances beyond his control have occurred, leading to Mr Costner’s participation in the dissolution of the marriage. We ask that the privacy of him, Christine and their children be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
On Tuesday, the “Bodyguard” actor responded to the divorce petition by asking for joint custody of the children. His filing also states, “The amount of spousal support payable to the petitioner under the terms of the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement.”
They started dating in 1999
Baumgartner and Costner began dating in 1999, shortly after he and his ex Bridget Rooney ended their relationship. He has a son with Rooney, 27 years old named Liam. The actor and Baumgartner briefly split in 2003 but reunited about a year later.
After reuniting, Baumgartner and Costner married in a private ceremony in Aspen. Four years later, they welcomed their first child, Cayden, in 2007. Hayes was born in 2009 and they had baby Grace the following year.
Before Baumgartner, Costner was married to Cindy Costner, but they ended their relationship in 2004. They also have three children, Annie, 39, Lily, 36, and Joe, 35. This brings the actor’s total number of children to 7 from three women.
Kevin Costner’s hit show is supposed to end after season five
The couple’s divorce came shortly after it was announced that “Yellowstone” would end after its fifth season. “Yellowstone” is the series that revived Costner’s acting career and helped him win numerous awards for his performance. He won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of John Dutton.
There have been many rumors that Costner will not return for the second season of the fifth season because of conflicts with show creator Taylor Sheridan. A source in the production team spoke to New York Post Office about the rumored accident.
They said, “It’s the same with any host and big star – there’s respect, but there’s friction.” Another source, who has worked closely with Sheridan before, suggested that there is an ego war, which could be Sheridan’s fault. They said, “Taylor is the star of his show. He’s the most important of all his shows.”
Kevin Costner May Still Appear in New ‘Yellowstone’ Episodes
In November 2022, the first half of season five “Yellowstone” premiered on the Peacock streaming platform. About 12 million fans watched the first episode and are now eagerly looking forward to the second half of this year. However, production has yet to begin and the upcoming Hollywood writers’ strike will cause delays.
Source for New York Post Office also commented on the possibility of Costner returning in the second half of the season. They said: “We hope it will be resolved. It’s a program too big for everything to go unresolved. Hopefully Kevin will return for the rest of the episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will come to an end after this season.”
Another source added that no one on the production team or the cast knew the whole picture except for one person. They said, “Only Taylor really knows what’s going on.”
