RESIDENTS live in the picturesque village that inspired a popular Disney movie that says it is being ruined by tourists.
Hallstatt in Shirt is a fairy tale alpine town that seems to have been the inspiration for the kingdom of Arendelle in the hit movie. frozen.
Nestled on the shores of beautiful Lake Hallstätter and with the towering Dachstein Mountains in the background, the magical scenery is truly breathtaking.
But locals have not been satisfied with the more than a million tourists who visit their picturesque village each year.
With a population of only about 750 people living in narrow streets, the village of Hallstatt is overflowing with tourists taking selfies, said Alexander Scheutz, the mayor.
Up to 7,000 people visit each day during peak times, eager to snap a picture of the place that provides the real-life setting for fictional Princess Elsa, reports Time poetry.

Andrea Zimmermann, who lives just above the selfie spot, told the ORF TV network that the noise affected her health and her husband’s.
“I’m really worried about my husband,” she said. He had to go back to the doctor again, now he has a heart problem.
“And for me, gastritis is coming back. So psychologically, things are going very badly for us.”
The problem got so bad that the mayor arranged to have two wooden fences placed in the exact spot where visitors wanted to be photographed.
This highly rated selfie post features a backdrop of lakes, mountains, pale houses, and charming church towers.
Scheutz told the Upper Austria website News that the best thing is to think of a way to get rid of the pixel completely.
The mayor then erected wooden “privacy screens” in a desperate attempt to reduce tourist numbers.
His move quickly sparked a backlash on social media and from some locals.
And the fences have been removed since then.
“It was just an experiment,” says Scheutz. We discussed it in the city council.
“But the plan is now cancelled, there will be no such privacy screens in Hallstatt.”
Instead, the village will use a banner that reads: “We live here. Enjoy the scenery in peace.”
Halstatt survives thanks to its rich salt deposits and majestic salt cellars, discovered more than 4,000 years ago.
It comes as locals living in a village inspired one of the UK’s most famous painters to say that the area is being ruined by hordes of tourists.
Meanwhile, locals at a beachfront resort say rental homes even make locals homeless – and they street like a ghost town.
Another town said the second homeowner was ruining their town, and they forced to take desperate measures.
