A manhunt is underway for a 29-year-old man suspected of fatally beating an elderly man early Friday morning in Huntington Park, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Miguel Angel Zavaleta is suspected of assaulting the victim outside a convenience store on the 5600 block of Pacific Avenue around 1:50 a.m. The sheriff’s department said in a press release. Authorities said the man, whose identity was not immediately released, was kicked, punched and shoved to the ground during the attack.
The victim, believed to be between 60 and 65 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department, according to authorities.
The Sheriff’s Department said Zavaleta is “known for frequenting the Huntington Park area. Authorities said Zavaleta was described as 5 feet 11 tall and 220 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.
The Huntington Park Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
