How to get more batteries in Tears of the Kingdom

Along with heart and stamina, one of the most valuable resources in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is your battery life. And we don’t mean that your Nintendo Switch’s battery is constantly drained from playing too much.

Link’s Zonai battery powers all of his machines while outside of the Temple, and you’ll quickly discover that the energy value of a single battery he has at the start of the game. play barely enough to continue. And while Zonai Construct explains how to boost your battery in the first place, a lot of the jargon it gives you too soon (Crystallization Fee! Zonaite! What?) can seem overwhelming – not to mention the fact that it return to Great Sky Island for upgrade materials as you manage to figure them all out.

Fortunately, there are ways to make this much easier. We have a upgrade your battery in ToTK instructions (aka upgrading your Power Cells) in Tears of the Kingdom, but here’s the short version if you just want some quick instructions on how to earn more batteries in Tears of the Kingdom:

Collect Zonaite from the depths

Whenever you’re below the surface, you’ll occasionally spot deposits of ore that seem to sparkle turquoise (not to be confused with Glow Stones). This is Zonaite, and you should exploit all that you can. You need three Zonaites to get a Crystal Charge and 300 to upgrade a third of the battery. That’s a lot of Zonaite! There are other ways to get Zonaite, such as defeating certain enemies, but this is the most common.

Convert Zonaite to Crystallized Charge

When you complete one of the Area Phenomena quests, you’ll receive another quest from Josha that takes you to the Depths. Do this as soon as possible, as it will eventually lead to the Forge, where you can exchange Zonaite for Crystal Charge. Before this point, you will have to return to Great Sky Island to trade with the construction you encounter there. You can also collect Crystal Charges in other ways, but this is the most common.

Transactions crystallize outside Lookout Landing

With Crystalized Charges in hand, head north from the Lookout Landing and find the large piece of Sky Ialdn that dropped just outside the portal. On top of it is a Zonai Building that will generate 100 Crystal Charges to upgrade the energy cell. In total, you can collect 21 upgrades to get eight full batteries. That means you’ll need 2,100 Crystal Charge…or 6,300 Zonaite shards. Get Mining!
