THR reports multiple sources saying that Corenswet, who recently starred with Mia Goth in Ti West’s “Pearl,” is conducting screen testing that will take place later this spring. There are reports of two other mysterious candidates, be it a matter of keeping a pleasant surprise or offering a complete unknown.
“Euphoria” star Jacob Elordi has been mentioned in discussions around casting online, but is said to have never put his name on the list. Other names in the “original combination” include British actors Tom Brittney and Andrew Richardson — but again, just rumors. The shortlist of actors considered for the role of purported reporter Lois Lane includes “Sex Education” star Emma Mackey, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan (who is said to have had one session). auditioned for the role of “excellent”), “Bridgerton” star Phoebe Dynevor, and “Scream VI” star Samara Weaving. (Weaving as Lane are some of the roles I could get behind!)
According to THR, Nicholas Hoult (“Renfield,” “The Great”) has been cast as Lex Luthor. People have been discussing Hoult as a potential actor in “Superman: Legacy” for a while now, with some speculating that he could play Superman. (Deadline senior editor Justin Kroll seems to think Hoult still available for Supesbut it’s entirely possible he auditioned for both!) I can’t imagine Hoult being a corn-fed Kryptonian, but he’ll make a cool Lex Luthorso here’s hope.
All of this is still in the air, of course, with screen tests and subsequent auditions before anyone makes a decision. We’ll have to wait, but it seems Gunn is looking for some serious talent for the first DC Studios movie, and that rule.
